Well, since I’m writing this about myself I’m not going to write in the third person. I have been playing guitar since I was 16, but I’ve been singing since I can remember. My sister tells me I used to sing to my french fries. Well actually, I’d lick off the gravy and my dad would sit me on the counter of what ever restaurant we were at, and I would sing to my french fries. No one said I had to have a completely NORMAL childhood. I used to memorize lyrics to anything I could sing along with, when I was little it started with The Little Mermaid. So my mom and my sister started calling me “Little Sparrow”.
I tried to sing in choir when I was 10 but I didn’t have the patience for the teacher, and the repetition. So after that I didn’t look at music for a long time. Then when I turned 14, I found the muse I was always searching for. My mom passed away when I was 9, but the weight of it never sunk in until I was 14. So, I tried making a band. We called ourselves Destructive and Abusive. Nice name huh? Ha…kids can be so stupid. When I turned 16, my brother bought me my first guitar. Which I still have to this day.
I taught myself how to play guitar, though not well. Guitar is my constant struggle, but with time I hope I wont end up being that artist that everyone says always sounds the same.
In present time, I have a steady day job and do my music at night. I am hoping that with time, I wont need the day job anymore and I can survive off doing what I love, and that is to play. It doesn’t matter where, it doesn’t matter when…all I want to do is play.
